Country Club of Woodland Hills was built in 1987 by Never M. Fail, Jr. and his company, Never Fail Builders, Inc. Mr. Fail was a prominent Tulsa builder who built a lot of residential living communities in Tulsa in the 1970’s and 1980’s as well as hotel, land development and other real estate ventures.

Prior to 1985, the only option for a senior adult wanting additional services was found in nursing homes operated by larger religious organizations. While these communities, met the needs of the very frail elderly, they were not at all appropriate or appealing to the more active and relatively healthy senior segment in their 70’s or 80’s.
Coming from a residential real estate background, Mr. Fail correctly forecasted the coming boom in the elderly demographic and the increased need for quality retirement housing. The resulting “H” shape design of Country Club’s main building became a design that has been replicated in senior living communities since its inception and is still in use today in newer communities.
The additional “cottage community” was another, unique addition which afforded an even more independent option to the more active senior adult who desired ability to enjoy all the amenities of the main building but still keep the feeling of living in a private home.
